Energy

The Energy Industry includes numerous industries which are all part of the production and sale of energy, including fuel extraction, manufacturing, refining and distribution. The Energy Industry is a crucial part of modern society infrastructure and maintenance.

Energy includes the following industries:

  • Gas, natural gas, coal gas
  • Electrical power, electricity generation, electric power
  • Coal industry
  • Nuclear power
  • Renewable energy, hydro, wind and solar power

Most energy globally is used for transport, heating, cooling, and industrial production. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. All energy conversions involve some amount of waste and eventually all energy becomes heat. Consumption and production shall balance, therefore electricity must be generated at the exact instant it's used, kept in a precise balance for every second of every day. As energy storage is difficult and lossy, utilities need to maintain a reliable grid.

To meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations utilities spend millions each year on new technology development and implementation. However, the return on investment is not always immediate. Concern for climate change, global warming and fuel supply has utilities worried too. In order to protect the environment governments are imposing stricter rules and tighter deadlines which result in challenging capital investments in the utilities sector. On top of that, some experts forecast that the coming renewable rush could reshape our energy economy and power from the electric grid will no longer be the main source of distributed energy.

Many companies opt for adding services to their portfolio to keep up with tough competition and technological advancement. An increasing number of companies realises that becoming a full-service provider can be the only way to survive on the market while some have no other choice but partner with bigger corporations.

BIS GROUP Energy events are a unique opportunity to gain knowledge into the latest market trends and developments from the undisputed experts while having the opportunity to network in a very interactive and stimulating environment.
